Holidays are fun but summer is hot! So the best way to have fun is to stay hydrated. Dietician Sonia D’souza says, “Kids should not wait to feel thirsty. Keep sipping water throughout the day, especially after playing. Carrying a water bottle while going out is a simple but important habit.”
It is recommended by her and other experts that coconut water, fresh lime soda/water or even buttermilk are good refreshing options. They help your body stay cool and gives you energy. She adds that, “Natural drinks are always better than packaged juices because they have less sugar and more nutrients.”
Food also helps keep you hydrated. Watermelon, mangoes, oranges, cucumbers, tomatoes, curd, smoothies, juice, homemade popsicles, also are a good choice.
“Children these days eat a lot of sugary drinks, chocolate and chips which they should avoid as it can make them feel more tired in the heat” she advised.
So this Summer Vacation, drink a lot of fluids, eat fresh and colourful foods, keep yourself cool, happy and full of energy!
