In some Irish schools, you will see a special bench in the playground. It’s called the Buddy Bench. If a child feels lonely, sad, or left out, they can sit there. This tells other kids, “I need a friend.” The idea is simple: when someone sits on the Buddy Bench, classmates invite them to join games or just talk. The group Buddy Bench Ireland started this program and also runs workshops to teach children about kindness, empathy, and feelings. The benches have definitely reduced bullying.
