Mast. Atharv Surlekar of Mae dos Pobres High School, Nuvem, Managed by Diocesan Society of Education, Goa- has earned a place in ISRO’s YUVIKA (Young Scientist Programme), a notable achievement that has brought recognition to both his school and the village of Nuvem.
Atharv will undergo a two-week residential training at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre from 10 May to 22nd May, where he will learn about space science and related technologies from ISRO professionals. The YUVIKA initiative seeks to nurture young minds by introducing them to the fields of science, technology, and space research.
Atharv’s selection reflects his strong academic record and keen interest in scientific activities. He has previously taken part in the National Children’s Science Congress and the INSPIRE MANAK programme in New Delhi, where students present innovative projects at a national level.
The achievement reflects his commitment, enthusiasm, and keen interest in learning. He is guided and supported by his mentor, Tr. Denisa Coutinho, and constant encouragement from the Manager Rev. Fr. Vital Miranda, Headmistress Mrs. Mable Da Costa, staff, fellow students, and his parents Mr. Nilesh and Mrs. Minal Surlekar wishes for his future success
