Middle East Tensions: US, Israel and Iran Exchange Attacks

In early 2026, tensions rose in the Middle East after the United States and Israel carried out airstrikes in Iran. They said the strikes targeted military bases and sites linked to Iran’s missile and programmes. nuclear

Iran denied the accusations and responded by launching missiles and drones toward Israeli targets and some nearby American bases. The exchange has increased fears that the conflict could spread to other countries in the region.

Many world leaders have urged both sides to avoid further fighting and return to negotiations. The tensions have also affected global oil prices because the Middle East produces a large amount of the world’s oil.

Goa Citizens Protest Against Section 39A

In February 2026, many people in Goa protested against Section 39A of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act. The law allows the government to change how land can be used for example, converting agricultural or green land into settlement zones for buildings.

Some citizens worry that this could lead to too much construction and damage Goa’s fields, forests and village life. Protests took place across the state, including in Panaji.

St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar even held a hunger strike asking the government to reconsider the law. After the protests, the Goa government said it would review certain land conversion decisions.

People Around the World Protest Against War

Large anti-war protests took place in several cities around the world in 2026, including London, New York, Berlin and Toronto.

Students, activists and community groups marched with banners calling for peace and negotiations instead of fighting. Many protesters said they were worried about how wars affect ordinary people.

Throughout history, such demonstrations have shown how citizens express their views and encourage leaders to search for peaceful solutions.

Russia-Ukraine War Continues

The Russia-Ukraine war, which began in February 2022, has now entered its fourth year. Fighting continues in parts of eastern and southern Ukraine.

The conflict has damaged cities and forced millions of people to leave their homes. It has also affected the global economy because both countries are important suppliers of grain, oil and gas.

Despite several attempts at peace talks, a lasting agreement has not yet been reached.

Tensions on the Pakistan-Afghanistan Border

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan remain tense along their shared border, known as the Durand Line.

Pakistan says militant groups are based in Afghanistan responsible for attacks inside its territory, while Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government denies these claims and criticises cross-border strikes.

Disagreements over the border itself have existed for more than a century. While the two countries are not in a full war, occasional clashes continue to create uncertainty for people living near the border.
