Celebrating the legacy of warrior king ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’

With intense exhilaration and profound reverence to the legendary warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja, Vidyaprasarak High school, Morjimcommemorated the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja on 19 February 2026. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the epitome of bravery, righteousness, visionary leadership whose legacy continues to inspire generations was celebrated on the day. The day was marked with a festive procession that was inaugurated by Shri. Vilas Morje, the Sarpanch of Morjim village panchayat, in the presence of the headmaster of the school Shri. Dilip N. Methar, thePTA President, and all the teaching and non-teaching staff. It was a grand procession of a sea of saffron flags held by students in white kurtas and girls beautifully clad in Nauvari, a traditional outfit led by flower adorned vehicle accommodating students who were dressed in the regalia of Chhatrapati Shivaji, Rajmata Jijabai, young Sambaji Maharaja and Maratha soldiers. The procession made its way from Vidyaprasarak High School through village street amidst chants of ‘Jai Shivaji, Jai Bhavani’ to different wards of the village. The sight of local womenconducting the rituals of tilak ceremony to welcomeShivaji Maharaj, Jijabai and Sambhaji Maharaj was a feast for the eyes. The procession returned back to school with unwavering enthusiasm on the faces of the participants.

The final half saw the celebration’s triumphant peak in the school hall. It commenced with inauguration of a grand portrait of the court scene of Shivaji Maharaj and garlanding of idol of Shivaji Maharaj by the chairman of the school, Shri. Ganesh B. Shetgaonkar followed by a brief introductory part by the in chargeof the programme and auspicious moment of lightening of traditional lamp by the chief guest of the day Kumari. Sana Sudhakar Satelkar, young artist known for her spiritual oratory (Devotional preacher- kirtankar), who poured her prolific heart before the audience. The event truly blossomed with the esteemed presence of the young orator , The headmaster, The chairperson and members of managing committee, The sarpanch and Panch members ,The PTA President and the members of PTA , The SMC President along with the members of SMC, special invitees ,parents,teachers, non- teaching staff and all the students. Such an indelible moment it was!
