‘Phirse Kitaab’ was a state- wide reading campaign organised by Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO) Goa, reaching schools, libraries, cafés, and public spaces across Goa. The initiative was a movement to encourage children, youth, and families to reconnect with books through storytelling sessions, reading corners, creative activities, and informal author interactions. Explaining the campaign idea, Sharmin Khan, Secretary of GIO, said the focus was on reducing educing screen time and improving attention, expression, and personality development through reading. The campaign received an enthusiastic response, with children asking for stories to be read again-proving that reading, when made joyful, truly connects and can actually rescue children from screens.
