The break is over!! The English Premier League kicks off 15Th August and we’re all excited to see what the new season holds for the top 20 teams.
Last season saw stiff competition with underdogs Nottingham Forest making it to 7th position while Liverpool stole top position. Popular team Manchester United struggled all through the season. On the other hand, Manchester City and Arsenal, although finished in the top 4, had trouble winning some of the easier games.
Top players like Salah, Saka, Haaland and Van Dijk made their teams proud with outstanding performances on field. Other notable players include the likes of Isak, Chris Wood, Saliba and Jordan Pickford. With the transfer window still open, here’s my list of top players to watch out for this season.
- Cole Palmer (Chelsea – Midfielder) – This unstoppable 23-Year-old has been one of the most creative midfielders with 15 goals with 8 assists last season. His talent should see him in the top 3 goal scorers this season.
- Florian Wirtz (Liverpool –Midfielder) – Wirtz completed a move from Bayern Leverkusen to replace Luiz Diaz and Diogo Jota who sadly passed away recently.
- Alexander Isak (Newcastle United – Striker) – The Swedish striker impressed all with his prowess and ingenuity scoring 23 goals and helping the club finish fifth in the league. With his confidence on a high, Isak will definitely out-perform last season stats.
- Levi Colwill (Chelsea – Defender) – Colwill has been the backbone of Chelsea’s defence. His ability to defend against the best attackers and counter attack makes him a very dangerous player. Colwill should be one of the top 3 defenders in the upcoming season.
- Erling Haaland (Manchester City – Striker) – The goal machine had a tough last season but we all know his potential to score goals from within the box. With a new midfield line up to back him, he should be a force to reckon with.
- Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United – Forward) – Mbeumo recently completed his transfer to Manchester United. With his intense speed and dribbling skills, he scored 20 goals with 7 assists last season. Bruno and Mbeumo combination should be the one to watch out for.
- Mohammed Salah (Liverpool – Midfielder) – The best player in the Premier League has shown his metal time and time again, Salah has been consistent for Liverpool over the years with his dribbling, striking and leadership skills. Salah will definitely be a top contender this season.
Some other notable players to watch are Anthony Elanga, Chris Wood, Saka, Bruno Fernandes and Watkins. The line-up for most teams looks very strong with some fine talent. Expect a thrilling showdown this season all the way to the final match!
