Odisha lets MPs and MLAs recommend 15 teacher transfers. The move is trending online.
The Government of Odisha has introduced a one-time provision allowing Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to recommend up to 15 teacher transfers within their constituencies. The policy is applicable for the academic year 2025–26 and pertains to both primary and secondary school teachers.
As per official guidelines, these recommendations must be intra-district and are subject to verification by District-Level Transfer Committees. The stated aim of the move is to address local-level requests and ensure smoother administration of school postings.
The transfer process was carried out between May 15 and June 15, with the final lists expected to be released in the coming weeks.
While Go UNMUTE has not independently recorded conflicting statements from teachers or administrators, we have observed widespread discussions and reactions on social media and online platforms in response to this policy.
