When Animals Share Germs: What We Need to Know

Scientists found that in some parts of the world, people can get sick from animals because of changes in climate, like too much heat or rain. This is called a zoonotic outbreak. About 9% of Earth’s land has a high risk for this. It happens more in places like Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In India, about 8 out of every 100 disease outbreaks between 2018–2023 came from animals. Experts say we must protect nature, plan for health, and stay clean to stop these sicknesses from spreading.
